Vincent Careau, Principal InvestigatorDr. Careau’s research program involves the combination of several approaches (quantitative genetics, comparative method, experimental evolution, and field studies) to examine trait co-variation across multiple levels of organization (e.g., intra-individual, inter-individual, inter-population, and inter-specific levels) in order to study co-adaptations among metabolic rate, performance, behaviour, and life-history strategies.

Paul AgnaniPaul started his MSc in January 2018, in co-supervision with Dr. Carsten Schradin, during which he worked on the energetics, locomotor performance, and behavior of the Bush Karoo rat Myotomys unisulcatus. Paul has now transferred to a PhD, and is studying the complex relationships between personality, motivation, and locomotor performance.
Paul completed his BSc in Biology and his MSc in Ecology at the Faculté de Gestion, Economie et Sciences (Université Cathollique de Lille). During his BSc he worked in the Laboratoire Ecologie et Biodiversité (FGES) on Carabidae populations of agricultural areas. He completed his master project under supervision of Dr. Carsten Schradin at the Institut Pluridisciplinaire Hubert Curien (CNRS, Strasbourg) on the intraspecific variation of social organization in New World monkeys. He later volunteered at the Succulent Karoo Research Station in the Goegap Nature Reserve (South Africa) to work on the striped mouse and bush karoo rats. His interests include small mammals, ecology and animal behaviour. |
Tristan DucharmeTristan started his MSc in September 2020 and is co-supervised by Howard Rundle. He studies indirect genetic effects in D. melanogaster territoriality behaviours.
Tristan completed his BSc at the University of Toronto, with a specialist degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, as well as a major in Animal Physiology. During his undergrad, he worked as an Entomology Assistant at the Royal Ontario Museum, aiding with research and identification of parasitic hymenoptera species. His interests include quantitative genetics, animal behaviour and physiological ecology. |
Nicolas BoninNicolas obtained a BSc in Ecology and Organismal Biology at the University of Paris-Sud. He then completed a MSc in Evolutionary Ecology through a program coordinated by the University of Paris-Saclay, Sorbonne University and the French National Museum of Natural History. He worked on sexual selection in dippers at the Biometry and Evolutionary Biology Laboratory (LBBE). Nicolas completed his master project studying the temporal and spatial variability of urban effects on the reproduction of great tits, at the Biogéosciences Laboratory (University of Burgundy). His interests include evolutionary ecology (notably behavioural ecology) and conservation.
Nicolas will start his MSc in May 2021. Stay tuned for more details! |
Wyeth BlumbergWyeth completed his BSc in Biology with a minor in Geology at Acadia University. During his undergrad, he worked with Dr. Donald Stewart studying the phylogenetics of North American shrews. His research interests include animal behaviour, ecology, and evolutionary biology of mammals.
Wyeth will start his MSc in September 2021. Stay tuned for more details! |
